'We had a cheering and pleasant time at Birmingham'

This refers to a Meeting held at Birmingham on 8 Dec 1874 sponsored by the Midland Counties Electoral Union for Repeal. The Annual Meeting was held in the morning. JB spoke in the afternoon conference of members and friends of the Union. In the evening there was a Public Meeting at the Town Hall presided over by the Mayor (Mr Joseph Chamberlain) and among those present was James Stansfeld, James Stuart, HJ Wilson, Prof Amos.
