Scope and Content

Written from Hotel de la Couronne, La Comballaz, Argyle. His mother is gaining strength in the pure mountain air. His opinion is that it is time she got rid of the Federation business; when they propose to make all things new and right by public regulations it is time to leave them. Finds the sketches fairly good and has drawn the Dents du Midi and the Diablerets. A very remote place only to be got at with a four hours drive in a Diligence. James Stuart just arrived. Admires the country round and thinks it would make an admirable site for a chalet. They leave on the following Saturday, stop at Territet and on to Lausanne where they stop for several days.
