Written from Ambleside. Expresses her pleasure at receiving a letter from JB. She herself is suffering much at the moment under a nervous break down. She is determined that Jenny, her niece must not be allowed to return to look after her and therefore she must not be told of her illness.

(For further details see 'Shield' 14 Dec 1872, pp 1183, 1189) This followed the establishment of the Northern League in Aug 1872, the first regional body to be set up, the prime movers in which were JB and HJ Wilson
