Gives a detailed account of the organisation of the campaign for Abolition, with meetings, distribution of pamphlets etc. Besides the Geneva citizens supporters came from other Cantons and countries such as M. Hoffet of Colmar, Alsace; FA Babel Leader of the Socialist party in the Reichstag; Mme Pieczynska, a distinguished Polish woman doctor. Throughout this period of preparing for the Referendum, fixed for 22 Mar, Josephine Butler travelled around Switzerland returning frequently to see how the workers at Geneva were faring and to give them advice and encouragement
