'Very encouraging to hear about Prof Santo Liquido. I think he is a man to be trusted and I hope he will go to Brussels. No business to be sent to poor Mr Stuart his wife wrote that he was 'very bad'. Various requests about sending books and pamphlets.

'Do recommend when you can our new 'Revue de Morale Sociale'. The 1st article by Mme Pieczynska is so masterly.'

The notice about the new Review said: Primarily it will view the problem and the moral and social relation of the sexes as being of most considerable importance among the many questions, which confront us.' (The 'Shield' Feb 1899 p 8)

When the first issue came out after some delay the 'Shield' devoted more than a page to its contents. Among the contributors besides Mme Pieczynska were Prof Huber and de Meuron of Switzerland; Helen Blackburn of England, and contributions from Finland, Germany, Italy and Scotland.
