In 1863 Harriet Martineau wrote the famous 4 articles for the Daily News, inspired by Florence Nightingale who was fighting the War Office over their plan to introduce the CD Act, accomplished in 1864. The 4 articles were reprinted as a pamphlet in Dec 1869
