This was Stanley Butler's wife, whose illness in Mrs Tanner's house (lent to them) is described in letter of 19 Jun (JB to Mrs Tanner).

'and of my beloved mother whose example I should like to follow more and more'

Madame Humbert was a devoted worker in the Cause and was President of the 'International Union of the Friends of Girls'. She died Mar 1888.
