Following on from her letter of 23 May dealing with the suggested visit to Scotland. Says she is almost persuaded not to go to Scotland; 'I have such rude and angry letters just now from certain Scotchmen. But if Mrs W. thinks she could do good she would come. She has written to the Moderator of the General Assembly.'

Moderator of the General Assembly
This was probably the Moderator of the General Assembly of the Free Church of Scotland who was at this time Charles J Brown DD.

On various later occasions the Free Church of Scotland is mentioned taking similar action; but not the Established Church of Scotland.
