Josephine Butler to [unknown]

Scope and Content

No address and no date.

Fragment of a letter. She suggests that the grant for secretarial expenses made to her every year should be waived for a couple of years or more, and 'the sum go towards anything you might feel

you could for Mr Minod'. In a letter of 2 Apr 1899 she wrote more fully to Henry J Wilson putting the case for a rise of salary very strongly. This tentative attempt to Henry J Wilson for help for the Minods may therefore have been written the year before, say Jan 1898.

Administrative / Biographical History

JB has been worried about Minod for some time as one who was overworked and underpaid.

See her letter of 22 Apr 1899 to HJ Wilson. This may have been in 1898.
