Written from Ashburne, Sunderland (home of the Backhouses). Gives a description of their reception at the Backhouse's country seat 'a beautiful place'. Note from JB at the end 'They will like to hear that one man with a swell house and Park helps in our Battle'.

[George and his mother were on one of the 'Repeal Tours' in the North]. 'one man with a swell house and Park at least helps us in our battle' - Edward Backhouse was one of the most generous helpers in his contribution to the Movement; so much so that for some years his subscriptions to the various branches of the Repeal movement of ten exceeded £1,000 per annum
