'I have received many kind letters and pretty cards, some from unexpected quarters, as for instance, one from the Bishop of Jerusalem ... fully addressed, but I never heard of him!'

This was the Lord Bishop of the Church of England in Jerusalem and surroundings and the East (this embraced Egypt, Algeria, Cyprus, etc.). The holder of the office in 1902 was George Francis Popham Blyth
