Written from Winchester (dictated). Thanks them for their repeated invitation, but she will have to remain steadily at home; the Canon and Stanley return from Switzerland this night, a large party early in the week, and visitors will be thronging. Thinks the government are trying to deceive people about repealing the Acts in India. 'George is rather better, though his health is very uncertain' As the Government failed to produce the Indian yellow book Prof. Stuart has got it printed at the expense of the Federation.

This would be of the speeches made at the evening meeting held in Exeter Hall, 18 May 1888 convened by the Committee of the Gospel Purity Association. The Chair was taken by FW Crossley.
