Written from Rothbury. Asks if Tanner could persuade any of the Committee of the Ladies' National Association to go to the conference to be held in London on 29 Jul at Westminster Palace Hotel as it would be a very disappointing if their Association was underrepresented.

'The Conference to be held in London on the 29th'

This took place on 29 Jul at the Westminster Palace Hotel, London 'for the purpose of considering business matters only, and was limited to one or two representatives from each of the large Repeal organisations, and a few delegates from Committees in the subjected districts'. The LNA was represented by Mme Venturi and Mr W Burgess (Agent). JB was unable to be present and sent a letter containing suggestions as to home and foreign speakers; work in Ireland, etc. (see 'Shield' 10 Nov 1875 p 389)
