'Northern League' - This body, officially called the Northern Counties League was the 1st regional body to be set up. The moving spirit behind this was HJ Wilson backed by Josephine who naturally took a keen interest in anything to do with her beloved North where she lived till she married. JB refers in this letter to the approaching Conference, which was held at Sheffield 29 Aug 1872 to establish the NC League for the Repeal of the CD Acts. HJ Wilson was appointed Hon Sec. She was always happy to speak for the Cause in that area for was she not a Grey and so received with a warmth accorded perhaps to no other family

'Great Marlborough St Committee' - This was the Committee of the National Association for the abolition of the Acts, the central body of the organisation, with offices at Gt Marlborough St. Moved to 27 Great George St, Westminster 19 Apr 1873.
