Administrative / Biographical History

10 Sep [1903]

Mrs Thorp nee Amy J Clark eldest sister of William S Clark of Street and married to Fielden Thorp of York.

About the journey from Cheltenham to Northumberland it is impossible from the letters to fix exact dates and exact itinerary. [See letter of [?18 Aug.]

In a letter of 29 Dec after she reached her destination at Wooler, written to Mr Johnson she says: 'I received your card forwarded from Cheltenham. I left Cheltenham in Aug.'

The last letter we have written from 29 The Promenade Cheltenham was after 11 Aug when she wrote from Cleeve Hill that 'she dreaded leaving this quiet retreat'.

JB has evidently broken her journey between Cheltenham and York at an undisclosed place and is going on later to meet her son Stanley at York station on the 21st.
