Note to Josephine Butler

Scope and Content

A note not signed or dated but presumably sent to Josephine Butler by a member of the Friends' Association for abolishing the State Regulation of Vice

To say that she had seen a copy of a letter from Lady Henry Somerset to one of their women friends (unidentified) 'who had written her a letter really terrible in its outspoken faithfulness'. Lady Henry asked her to pray for her and 'really seems to be sincere in her belief in the righteousness of her most extraordinary propositions' [the consequences of Lady Henry Somerset's letter was a shattering blow to the Ladies' National Association which was at its height between Mar-May 1897]
