Josephine Butler to Stanley Butler

Scope and Content

Photocopy of letter. Written from Lausanne

Speaks of the danger run by their poor Geneva friends who are threatened by the keepers of 'houses' who see their livelihood in danger if the Abolitionists should win. She has asked their friends in Parliament to send those threatened encouraging letters and telegrams, and she has asked Mr Thomasson for a grant for the Central Office as there is so much to print and little money.
