Scope and Content

Encloses letter (copy present) addressed to the Northern League from the Central Italian Committee in Rome and asks him to send a formal written expression of sympathy which may be published in the Italian newspapers. Italy has imitated England in her constitution and still looks to England for help in present difficulties.

'about my foreign affairs'

Following on JB's visit to the Continent in the winter of 1874/1875 she became increasingly involved in the continental campaign against Government Regulation of Prostitution. The British and Continental Federation for its abolition was formally constituted at Liverpool on 19 Mar 1875, when Mr Stansfeld was appointed President, and JB with Mr Wilson became Joint Secretaries

'The Central Italian Committee'

A request for written support was addressed to Repeal Societies in England by Mr Nathan (see copy of his letter). The Northern Counties League responded and in addition messages were sent by The Executive Committee of the National Association, The President and Chairman of Committee of the Midland Counties Electoral Union, Hon Sec Scottish national Association

'The Factory Acts'
