Josephine Butler to Mr Gregory

Scope and Content

Written from Ewart Park, Wooler, Northumberland.

Tells him that Mr Wilson has expressed himself in favour of the LNA this year holding their annual meeting for women only with later on a meeting for men only. If this were so she would feel obliged to protest. There is a great change on the Continent now and separate meetings are rarely held except in Germany, and we ought to set a good example. She asks him therefore if he would use his influence in the right direction with Mr W. 'I grieve to find Mr Wilson's tendency to exalt the man's work a little at the expense of the women's. He is of a strong and aggressive nature'

Administrative / Biographical History
