Continues to describe the people she meets in connection with her work; first an old friend Ernest Nathan who, with his wife, is working hard to relieve the acute distress among the working classes in Rome; and then many others, both Italian and English visitors, in Rome. 'He [George Meuricoffre - Josephine's nephew] is at Lord Armstrong's steel works there [Termi]. They make steel, and have the Becimer [sic] process'.
