Written from Manchester, on headed notepaper 'United Kingdom Alliance'. In answer to HJW's letter of 1 Sep (see letter) he says not to dwell upon the past, the report is no longer to be waited for [it appeared in Aug 1882] and Mr Stansfield has only to 'give notice of the introduction of a clear repeal Bill for the earliest moment next session... in Oct. or Nov.' He then outlines the proper procedure for Mr Stansfield to follow, with the help of Mr Hopwood, for he realises Mr S. is not in strong health.
