Copy of letter concerning appointment of Female Hospital Assistant for the Army. Written from 'School of Medicine, Sudhiana, 1 May 1899.

Copy of letter received from Lady Young dated Government House, Lahore 4 May 1899 in which on the authority of Col.Franklin she states that 'it has been definitely rules that no employee of the Dufferin Fund is or is allowed to take up the work you mention. There is no such thing as a Government Female Hospital assistant [This a strange statement; see our extracts from the Dufferin Report. KB.]'

Copy letter sent with Letter postmarked 9 or 10 May 1899 from Dr Bushnell to Henry Wilson from Muree (see 3JBL/42/48) also enclosing Lady Y's reply. They have advised Dr B not to let herself into the undertaking to produce 'two authenticated cases'. She has made her representations on the 'possibilities' not the 'actualities' of injury to innocent women and is not bound to produce 'authenticated cases.' .
