Josephine Butler to 'Dear Friend' [Miss Forsaith]

Scope and Content

Photocopy of letter. Written from [Wooler, Northumberland].

She has just sent to Mrs Terrell a very interesting letter from Signorina Isabele Moore, from Florence, giving details of a great Revival going on in Italy 'especially among Priests, Bishops and the Roman Catholic peoples. The demand for Bibles and Gospels in Italian is so great that she can hardly keep pace with it.

Complains that Mrs Terrell and other friends write in the vein: 'how I must be longing to be taken into the rest of Heaven!!' But in spite of often severe sufferings she is not longing for death; on the contrary she prays for the very opposite for her life to be prolonged.
