Administrative / Biographical History

3 Feb [1888] Date: This cannot be later than 1889 as the Butlers were in France by Jan 1889 and did not get home again till May. 1888 the Butlers were at home in Winchester till they went to the Conference at Copenhagen at the beginning of Sep. 'The sweet baby' is Josephine, Stanley and Rhoda's first child born 23 Sep 1887 so this letter could not have been written before 1888. She could have started cutting teeth at 41/2 months (though not common) but it was probably some childish ailment. Biog: 'Little Josephine'.
