Written from Brussels where the International Conference was held 14-17 Jul 1897.
'The Congress is going well and is full of interest after a rather terrible preliminary squabble'. Mr Stuart was very pleased with 'a most splendid arraignment of the CD Acts by de Meuron' 'Great consternation was created among the delegates this forenoon by the sudden entrance of Mrs Amos who has travelled through the night and is in a quiver of restlessness. However the Congress is half over and she cannot pretend to manage it now.'
See letter of [25 Jun] 1897 JB to Miss Forsaith where she writes: 'The Devil is ranging now in Brussels'
