[27 Mar 1886] Date: Written at the time of the 2nd reading of Stansfeld's Bill. 'The day after Mr Stansfeld's bill was read a second time in the House of Commons.' 26 Mar 1866 Second Reading of Repeal Bill passed without division. (RR 499) The day after would therefore be 27 Mar. JB had often spoken and written about the need of hospitals for women. See letters of 22 Nov 1882, JB to Miss Priestman and 12 May 1883 JB to Miss P. She had started a small hospital (House of Rest) in Liverpool and again in Winchester when she moved there.
