This is the first of several letters from JB to Albert Rutson written in 1868. They are all extracts only in typescript and unsigned. The two were old friends and shared the common interests of riding and social reform
In this letter she speaks of her father, John Grey of Dilston (1785-1868) and a memoir of him 'her brothers want her to write'. This was written by JB and published in 1869:
