Josephine Butler to 'my very dear Friends' (Miss Forsaith, Harriet and Mrs Terrell)

Scope and Content

Photocopy of letter. Written from [Wooler, Northumberland]

Has explained to Mr Wilson that she approves of the circulation among a limited circle of a merely typed report but not of a printed one. However it is to be curtailed by a Committee of the Friends [see letter of 8 Nov]. She wants now to thank Mrs Terrell for Gordon's book on 'Prayer' which she is sending. The subject has exercised her mind for many years, but recently she has come 'near to a solution which brings light and perfect peace'! Her final conclusion is that 'as we get nearer to God all prayer receives itself into communion.'
