Administrative / Biographical History

Date: Uncertain but may be put in Apr 1906 when she was beginning to recover from the illness which struck her down at the beginning of that year and cut her off from all visitors and letter writing.

'When his cows got horn and hoof disease.'

This probably means 'foot and mouth disease', now a disease kept in check in England by policy of slaughter of all infected animals.
