Josephine Butler to [Stanley Butler]

Scope and Content

Photocopy of incomplete letter.

She writes about the anarchists in Russia who 'believe themselves to be the appointed and lawful avengers of centuries of horrible misrule and cruelty'. She goes on to tell him of the Anarchist's Publication which was sent to her from Poland, where the cruel persecutions inflicted by Russia began as early as 1566. It is a special number with illustrations of 'the Life of Christ'. It ends with an appeal to all anarchists: 'Come, Anarchists, come, and let us join our voices with the great Hallelujah of the Eternal Easter'.
