Scope and Content

The first part of this collection, COB2/1-578, was catalogued c.1979. It is arranged into the following sections, but is catalogued 'flat', i.e. is non-compliant with current cataloguing standards:

records of the Borough before the adoption of the 1835 Municipal Corporations Act in 1876 (COB2/1-26a);

Minutes of Conway Borough and its Committees post 1876 (COB2/ 27-227);

Letter Books (COB2/228-238);

miscellaneous Registers and Reports (COB2/239-247);

records of the Conway Bridge Commissioners (COB2/248-313);

printed items (COB2/314-318);

papers of Albert Wood re Borough of Conway (COB2/319-354)

records of the Clerk's Dept. (COB2/355-578a).

The second part, COB2/579-662, was catalogued in 1998, and is also 'flat'. It has been arranged into the following sections:

Minute books and account ledgers (COPB2/579-612);

Rate books (COB2/613-636);

further records of the Conway Bridge Commissioners (COB2/637-644);

various registers, reports and letter book (COB2/645-658);

depositions for public enquiries or court hearings (COB2/659-662).

The final part, COB2/663-674, consists of further miscellaneous documents, including from the pre-1835 Borough, including: receipts, mortgages, leases, agreements, contracts, counsel's opinion, tenders, correspondence and reports. It was catalogued in 2012 and follows ISAD(G) guidelines slightly more closely, working within the limitations of the earlier majority.
