Baden. Princess Marie of Baden, Duchess of Hamilton (1817-1888)

Scope and Content

The letters from the Princess to D. S. Robertson at Hamilton Palace relate chiefly to the financial affairs of her son, William Alexander Louis Stephen, 12th Duke of Hamilton. The letters are from Paris and Baden, 1866. There is also a letter of William, the 12tth Duke.

Administrative / Biographical History

On 23 February 1843, Princess Marie of Baden who was the youngest daughter of Karl Ludwig Friedrich (1786-1818), Grand Duke of Baden, and a cousin of Emperor Napoleon III, married William Alexander Anthony Archibald (1811-1863), 11th Duke of Hamilton and 8th Duke of Brandon.

Princess Marie of Baden, Duchess of Hamilton, died at Baden-Baden on 17 October 1888.
