The readings are as follows: (1) 'Early Carol' (fifteenth-century, anon.); (2) two readings of 'Christus Natus Est' by John Alexander Chapman; (3) 'The Christmas Cockrow' by Shakespeare [from Hamlet]; (4) 'Journey of the Magi' by T.S. Eliot; (5) 'Before Dawn' by Walter de la Mare; (6) 'Noël' by Hilaire Belloc; (7) 'The voice of winter' by Shakespeare [from Love's Labours Lost]; (8) anecdote about the death of Charles Dickens and his contribution to Christmas, followed by G.K. Chesterton's tribute to Dickens; (9) 'Wassail Chorus' by Theodore Watts-Dunton; (10) Two Epitaphs (eighteenth century); (11) introduction and reading of 'Greater Love' by Wilfred Owen; (12) 'Carol' by Jill Furse; (13) reading from St Luke about the birth of Christ; (14) 'Dusk' by A.E.
