A BBC Home Service programme entitled 'Robert Donat Christmas Anthology', broadcast on 22 December 1959 and pre-recorded on 5 December. Following a brief introduction by presenter Laurence Gilliam, the programme consists of a series of Christmas poetry readings originally recorded by RD, with introduction and commentary by John Donat. The readings are as follows: (1) 'Early Carol' (anon.); (2) 'The Oxen' by Thomas Hardy; (3) 'Journey of the Magi' by T.S. Eliot; (4) 'Before Dawn' by Walter de la Mare; (5) 'Christus Natus Est' by John Alexander Chapman; (6) 'Christmas' by John Betjeman; (7) 'Wassail Chorus at Mermaid Tavern' by Theodore Watts-Dunton; (8) anecdote about the death of Charles Dickens, and a tribute to Dickens by G.K. Chesterton; (9) 'The Christmas Cockrow' from Hamlet; (10) 'When icicles hang' from Love's Labours Lost; (11) Two Epitaphs (18th Century, introduced by RD); (12) introduction to and reading of 'Carol' by Jill Furse'; (14) 'The Prayer of St Francis of Assisi'.
