Scope and Content

Various test recordings made by RD at home, principally on a Christmas theme as in FRD1/11/11-12. The readings are as follows: (1) 'Ring out Wild Bells'; (2) introduction and reading of 'A Little Boy of Heavenly Birth' by John Bannister Tabb; (3) introduction and reading of 'Carol' by Jill Furse; (4) 'Christus Natus Est' by John Alexander Chapman; (5) reading from St Luke about the birth of Christ; (6) 'Before Dawn' by Walter de la Mare; (7) introduction and reading of 'The Prayer of St Francis of Assisi'; (8) a second reading of 'The Prayer of St Francis', with no introduction; (9) 'Testing only' (RD's testing sequence in which he hopes for 'better weather, less asthma and BBC results'); (10) first recording experiments with Wordsworth's sonnet 'Upon Westminster Bridge' (including various different takes, a number of them aborted).
