Scope and Content

Various recordings made by RD, although the tape was obviously continued after his death with a posthumous radio broadcast. Contents are as follows: (1) RD reading extracts from Tennyson's In Memoriam, with minimal orchestral accompaniment, presumably taken from a broadcast; (2) a reading of Siegfried Sassoon's 'The Death Bed' by RD; (3) RD reminiscing about Frank Benson, taken from a radio broadcast, apparently recorded in spring 1950; (4) a short extract of music from a singing group (possibly part of the original content of the tape which has largely been taped over); (5) an extract from a posthumous radio broadcast in which a number of speakers discuss RD's last film The Inn of the Sixth Happiness.

Duration: 31 minutes.
