      Most of the designs measure either 45.5 x 57.5 cm or 51 x 64 cm. 54 pieces.

Scope and Content

A series of 54 large watercolour costume designs for The Glass Slipper by Hugh Stevenson, some of them embellished with gold or silver paint. All are labelled, signed and most of them dated by Stevenson; a number also include rejected or unfinished designs on the reverse. Some include swatches of material, and notes of the quantity, type and colour of fabric to be used; in one or two cases the name of the specific actor for whom the costume is intended is noted. Some of the designs are dated 1945, suggesting they may have been made for the second season of the play in 1945-6. They have been left in their original order, and are as follows:
