Scope and Content

This small class is comprised of publications collected by John Donat which relate in some way to RD. It includes a proof copy of the first full length published biography of RD by John Trewin. The publications are as follows: 

  • /1 Proof copy of J.C. Trewin, Robert Donat: A Biography (London: Heinemann, 1968).
  • /2 Theatrephile, Vol. 2, No. 8 (1985), containing an article by D.F. Cheshire entitled 'T.S. Eliot's Murder in the Cathedral: a survey of its first performances and some important revivals', pp. 65-70, which includes a detailed description of RD's 1953 performance.
  • /3 Roy Brazier, The Story of the Festival Theatre, Cambridge (Romary Books, 1995). With a letter to John Donat from the author.
  • /4 Programme notes for Made in London: Early Evening Films at the Museum of London, presented by the Museum of London and the National Film and Television Archive (1995). Includes notes on The Citadel and Perfect Strangers, both of which were shown as part of the season.
