Administrative / Biographical History

The Bicycle Union was formed in 1878. It amalgamated with the Tricycle Association in 1882, and in 1883 was re-named the National Cyclists' Union. With effect from 1 January 1935 it became a company limited by guarantee, and in 1959 it amalgamated with the British League of Racing Cyclists to form the British Cycling Federation.

Acquisition Information

The archive of the British Cycling Federation was deposited in the Centre by the National Cycle Archive in November 1994.
