Administrative / Biographical History

In 1898, Norman Dosson Lowless and Ronald Dosson Lowless formed the solicitors firm of Lowless & Lowless, based in pembroke and Pembroke Dock, Pembrokeshire, as successor to the firm of D. Hughes and Wynne. After the deaths of Norman, in 1933, and Ronald, in 1937, Owen Frederick Lowless took over the firm as a sole practitioner in 1950. The firm accumulated probates, letters of administration, sale particulars, title deeds and related papers relating to their clients' interests in the course of their work, mainly in Pembroke, Pembroke Dock and the surrounding area. The firm and its predecessor was involved in the administration of several trusts, as well as family estates including the Meyrick family's Bush Estate, Pembroke Dock, the Leach family, of Corston, Hundleton, and Jamaica, and Smyth Trust and Capel Trust, the Adams family's Holyland Estate, St Michael, Pembroke, the Lawrenny Estate, Neyland, the Lort Phillips family's Glanarberth Estate, in Llechryd, Cardiganshire, and Haverfordwest, the Orielton Estate, Pembroke Dock and Monkton, of the Owen family and Miss Jane Martha Jones of Cilwendeg, and the descendants of Wyrriott Owen (d. 1773), of Great Nash.
