Minutes of the committee (4 volumes)

  • 23 August 1938 - 19 July 1940
  • 26 July 1940 - 18 December 1942
  • 15 January 1943 - 1 June 1945
  • 15 June 1945 - 15 October 1959

There were very few meetings after 1950. The final meeting, which wound up the proceedings of the committee, is undated, but the signature to the previous minutes (of 25 March 1953) is dated 15 October 1959.

The series was originally composed of three volumes, but the first volume is missing.

Refugees listed by name, 1938-1948, with details of religion, occupation, sponsor and their placement or onward travel.

Correspondence (1 file)

Original letters and carbon copies of replies, March 1938 - October 1939, divided into rough subject-files, with lists of committee members and statements of expenses.

Administrative / Biographical History

The Cambridge Refugee Committee was formed in response to the Austrian crisis of March 1938. It organised the financial assistance and placement of refugees from Germany, Czechoslovakia and elsewhere, most of whom were Jewish.
