Administrative / Biographical History
Formed in Paisley & District Hospitals Board of Management 1948 was responsible for the Royal Alexandra Infirmary, Glen Coats Auxiliary Hospital, Royal Victoria Eye Infirmary, Barshaw Maternity Hospital, Hawkhead Hospital, Elderslie Cottage Hospital, Thornhill Maternity Hospital, Johnstone Infectious Disease Hospital, Johnstone Smallpox Hospital, Peesweep Sanatorium, and Darnley Hospital. In 1968 Dykebar, Riccartsbar and Broadfield psychiatric hospitals were added. In 1974 this Board of Management was replaced by the Renfrew District of Argyll & Clyde Health Board.
