Frank Wallis Galton 1867 - 1952

Frank Wallis was educated at Medburn Street Board School and the Working MensCollege in Great Ormond Street. He was apprenticed to a silversmith andengraver but soon left to enter journalism and politics, becoming privatesecretary to social reformers Sidney and Beatrice Webb 1892 - 1898. He wassecretary of the London Reform Union 1899 - 1918 and secretary of the LondonLiberal Association, 1903 - 1905. During the war he was assistant secretaryto the Central Association of Volunteer Regiments.

He was editor of The Weekly Organ The Volunteer Gazette and editor of theMunicipal Journal 1918 - 1920.

His publications include:

  • Select documents illustrating the history of tradeunionism 1: the Tailoring Trade (1896)
  • Workers on their Industries (1896)
