Scope and Content

Engagement diary with brief details of appointments, telphone numbers, birthdays, concerts, lectures, rehearsals, and a few brief memoranda. Also includes some brief notes on musical performance and criticisms. Also details cash accounts and income and expenditure.

From the 30 Oct 1918, the diary provides detailed daily entries describing Gustav Holst's work and travels during his appointment as a Musical Organiser in the Educational Department of the Young Men's Christian Association in Salonica and Constantinople. The pages from this date onwards have been digitised.
