Scope and Content

Notebook in Gustav Holst's hand, briefly detailing diary appointments, notes on musical performances and other reminders. Notebook is undated, but note originally on front of envelope states in Imogen Holst's hand 'address: YMCA 25 Bloomsbury Square, W.C.1 therefore late summer 1918'.

Note originally on front of envelope in Imogen Holst's hand also states '1 page of which to Adrian about Planets 1st premiere perf. for Exhibition'. Note now inside envelope. Adrian Boult was the conductor at the first performance of The Planets. Notebook also includes an astrological diagram on the back page, possibly drawn from Gustav Holst's study of astrology during compositon of The Planets, 1914-1916.
