Scope and Content

The “Petrelect” is a combined petrol engine and electric motor drive, and has taken various forms. Basically, the petrol engine keeps batteries charged and so provides current for an electric motor which drives the vehicle; the petrol engine can also assist the electric motor when starting, accelerating, or on hills. One advantage of using the electric motor for drive is that the gear-box is eliminated. A description of various “World Power” (April 1929).
