Scope and Content

Reply to LAN/1/12/9. Refers to operations he underwent in 1934; handwriting has been shaky ever since; comments on his poor financial position; sends a few papers to Bacon: the existence of the German Fleet was probably intended to keep England neutral; cannot now afford to run a motor-car. Refers also to report on the bombing of Germany’s iron industry (“Titcomb Report”, see LAN/1/13/4-8) and says that this was taken in by military advisers of the Air Ministry and served up to Lord Weir piecemeal as their own work.
