Correspondence and papers relating to inflation accounting, especially Sir Francis Sandilands' report on inflation accounting in 1975. Sandilands had rejected the more ambitious concepts of inflation indexation favoured by Bowden. In his Stamp lecture of 1978 Inflation and business enterprise, included in this file, Sandilands modified his position, accepting certain accounting adjustments to reflect balance between monetary assets and liabilities. The file includes transcripts of taped conversations between Bowden and Sandilands on this topic. Also present are copies of Bowden's paper on "Accounting in times of inflation" (1976) and his presidential lecture to UMIST old students' association which dealt with the same issue.
