To James Bone from Evelyn [Montague]. He relates his meeting with John [Russell Scott] regarding the Beavan apointment and his situation. He is now reconciled to the matter, understanding that John did not mean him any disservice, and was trying to rectify his blunder. He elaborates. When he has recovered, he can return to the post; in the meantime they have offered him 'congenial work, including tours abroad', should his doctor allow. He comments on the basis on which [John] Beavan and the staff think that the the former is working, how this can only lead to misunderstandings, and how Beavan's way of operating is different to theirs.
He refers to the fire at Lionel Hale's property, the injuries and the damage.
