Scope and Content

In late 1972, the Architect's Department inaugurated a programme of microfilming plans and drawings for ease of reference and storage. After microfilming and indexing, the plans are destroyed but periodic transfers were made to Flintshire Record Office of those original plans which it is considered desirable to keep for permanent preservation. The majority are elevations and block plans.

Known County Architects were:

-Samuel Evans, 1903 - 1921 (also County Surveyor to 1914). Evidential source: 1921 Divisional Roads Engineer (Wales and Monmouth), Ministry of Transport; see D-DM/964/16

-R G Whitley, c.1924 - c.1949 (also County Surveyor to 1926). Evidential source: D-DM/964

-W Griffiths, c.1950 - 1961 (also County Surveyor and Bridgemaster). Evidential source: described as Deputy County Architect 1948-1951, see FC/A/2/18

-R W Harvey, 1961-1974
